The proposed WildBlue development, next to Florida Gulf Coast University, will be explained by Don Schrotenboer, of developer Private Equity Group. Sponsored by GFA International. REGISTRATION IS CLOSED.
Located in the Density Reduction Groundwater Resource Area (DRGR) and Panther Habitat Area, the WildBlue project involves innovative planning and exceptional conservation efforts. Plans include 1,000 homes on 3,560 acres, extending from Alico Road south to Corkscrew Road, on the east side of Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU). The project is currently in the design and approval process, seeking rezoning to increase the 332 units currently allowed to 1,000 clustered units, surrounded by lakes and extensive preserves.
Private Equity Group has worked closely with environmental groups to design the project, which is supported by the Conservancy of Southwest Florida. The newly formed Village of Estero is challenging approval of the project, which is outside of the town's boundaries.
Don Schrotenboer is President of Real Estate for Private Equity Group and also serves on the FGCU Lutgert College of Business Advisory Council. He is a member of the Urban Land Institute and the Florida Land Council.
