35TH ANNUAL SWFL WRC AWARDS STUDENT SCHOLARSHIPS

Co-chaired by REIS Board of Governors member and scholarship chair, Bev Larson, the 35th Annual Southwest Florida Water Resources Conference on January 23rd was a great success with over 220 professionals and students in attendance.  The conference is dedicated to raising scholarship funds for high school and college students.  Eighteen students participated in the Water Research Poster Contest and winners were awarded a total of $3,000 in scholarships.

Thanks to the generosity of sponsors, the conference raised an additional $5,500+, which will be distributed  through participating cohosts to educational scholarship programs, including the REIS Scholarship Foundation.

Educational sessions focused on the latest water issues with panelists from the City of Fort Myers, Lee County, Sanibel, and Fort Myers Beach, as well as the US Army Corps of Engineers and South Florida Water Management District.

The conference began 35 years ago as one of the first water conferences in the state through a cooperative effort of cohosts.  REIS is a proud cohost of the event which is held at FGCU and hosted by The FGCU Water School.  Learn more about the conference and review the presentations here: https://chamberswfl.com/swfl-water-resources-conference.
