The 29th Annual Paul Sands Memorial Slaw Dog Partners with REIS to Award FGCU Scholarships

Held at Cypress Lake Golf Club in December, the 29th Annual Paul Sands Memorial Slaw Dog Invitational raised $59,000 to support Southwest Florida nonprofits, including the REIS Foundation.

REIS received $23,000 from the event, which will help fund scholarships for FGCU students studying real estate, construction management, and engineering. Fifteen students received scholarships this year: David Aleman Ardila, Kaya Aydogmus, Kent Blanding, Lindsey Borges, Enrique Bucio Garcia, Caleb Carter, Daniel Chavez Jr., Goretty Elien, Parker Eyre, Nicholas Facundo, James Gillon, Juan Gonzalez, Chebatch Pierre, Ector Rico, and Aidan Soto.

“We are grateful to the organizers of the Paul Sands Memorial Slaw Dog Invitational for their generous support of our REIS Scholarship Fund,” said REIS President Kristine Smale. “Their generosity has helped us expand our scholarship program, which has awarded more than $300,000 since its inception in 2006.”

Founded by Paul Sands and Scott Fischer, the Slaw Dog tournament grew from a friendly holiday golf outing into one of Southwest Florida’s signature charitable events. Following Paul’s passing, the tournament was renamed in his honor, and Scott Fischer and Lisa Sands have continued to uphold its mission and spirit each December.  To participate in the 2026 Slaw Dog Invitational, visit the event website: scott-fischer.com/slaw-dog-invitational/ or Facebook page: www.facebook.com/SlawDogInvitational/.
